Xiaoyun Zou (邹小云)

We live in a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom home, and after our baby was born, we hired Auntie Zou to live with us and provide care. Overall, we were very satisfied. The biggest impressions were that she is independent, proactive, and easy to rely on, and she is quite experienced with newborns. - Learns quickly and works independently. She got up to speed very quickly and had her own rhythm for childcare, cooking, and daily tidying, without needing us to assign tasks every day. This saved us a lot of energy and gave us time to handle our own matters during the postpartum period. - Attentive with the baby. She was conscientious about daily care and would arrange simple interactions and activities based on the baby’s condition, such as sun exposure, tummy time, and gas-relief exercises. She also often talked to the baby, used black-and-white cards, and sang children’s songs to interact. - Cooking was a clear bonus. Auntie is quite good at home-style dishes that were light and tasty and suited our family’s preferences. She would plan meals and shopping herself (and is very familiar with Costco ingredients), so we did not have to worry much about that. - Highly proactive. Besides caring for the baby and cooking, she would also tidy and clean when she had free time, and many things did not need to be specifically requested. - Communication was smooth. There were occasional differences between some of her childcare habits and our preferences, but after we clearly stated our requests, she generally cooperated and adjusted. - She helps parents gradually learn to take over. She offered some advice on basic care such as feeding, holding the baby, and burping. As her service period was nearing its end, she also had us do more ourselves, making it easier for us to take over afterward. Overall, if you are looking for a postpartum nanny who can organize things independently, is experienced with newborns, cooks well, and makes daily life relatively worry-free, we would recommend Auntie Zou. Note: We do not have grandparents living with us, so daily communication and coordination were relatively simple. We do not have firsthand experience to evaluate this aspect for families where grandparents live together and multiple childcare opinions need to be coordinated.
