My husband and I are SO glad we found Alyssa for the birth of our first baby! She goes above and beyond for her clients. Before the birth, she met with us to discuss our options so that we were confident with our birth plan. She also showed me movements and exercises to prepare physically for childbirth. We were able to accomplish the birth we planned for because of Alyssa’s support. While laboring at home, she provided comfort measures that allowed me to stay home even when the contractions became intense. Once we arrived at the hospital, she helped communicate with the staff so that I could keep focusing on breathing through my contractions. Having Alyssa with us kept us calm and relieved our worries! She was such an encouraging and comforting presence every step of the way. AND she met with us after the birth to check in and made us a delicious home cooked meal. We will definitely call Alyssa for our next baby!!

My husband and I recommend Alyssa. Birth was extra quick, Alyssa was professional with a calming presence. Her coaching during the pushing kept me focused and steered me away from panic. We appreciate her!

Short version: Hire a doula, hire Alyssa! She's extremely knowledgable and stays calm and collected the entire time. We had the best birth experience and went in to the hospital with so much additional knowledge. It was such a comfort having another support person on our side. Long version: My husband and I decided we wanted the additional knowledge of a doula for the birth of our first child since in person birthing classes were not an option (thanks Covid). We found Alyssa and after meeting with her for the first time we knew she was exactly what we were looking for. She met with us twice, in person, leading up to the birth. At these meetings she gave us information to read and we disucssed our birth plan wishes and went over various techniques for labor. She would also text us information at important milestones and answer any questions I had after my check-ups. We went to the hospital when my water broke, however I didn't start labor. Alyssa suggested many things to try to get labor going and provided evidence based information on the induction medication the doctors wanted to give me. Finally labor started, and Alyssa was in contact via texting the entire time until we were ready for her to come to the hosipital. Once she arrived we continued to find positions that were comfortable and helped to progress the labor continuously. She showed my husband how to do hip squeezes and made other suggestions to help keep me comfortable. Our birth went mostly as we had hoped and planned for, and I know part of that is thanks to Alyssa's knowledge and prep with us before birth. She also stayed with us for a while after the birth to make sure I was doing well, and I'm glad she did since she helped catch me when I passed out after birth while the nurses were busy with the baby. And if all of that isn't enough Alyssa does a post partum follow-up in your home with a delicious meal.

Alyssa was a wonderful doula for our second baby. She kept in touch with us as the pregnancy progressed and was invaluable when the labor progressed quite quickly! She offered assistance via text and then over the phone with my husband before her arrival. Once present she was a calming presence for us both, and she took the time to ask questions on my behalf, even as my birth plan went out the window. She helped me to stay informed of what I could expect for an unanticipated home birth with EMT assistance and helped me to feel safe and strong, which allowed me to vocalize my needs and trust myself and my instincts during the delivery. I wouldn't hesitate to have Alyssa as my doula again if we have any more children.
