Auntie Chen is a highly experienced and very caring postpartum nanny. She helped me through my confinement month, and I feel deeply grateful to her. After having an unsuccessful confinement experience with my first child, I came to understand the true value of a good postpartum nanny—Auntie Chen is one of those rare, exceptional ones.
She truly loves babies. Every night, as soon as the baby cried, she would immediately get up to check on the baby. The baby felt very secure with her and even became quite dependent on her.
She has extensive experience caring for babies: when the baby first came home, she monitored the baby’s jaundice every day; before the umbilical cord fell off, she carefully folded the diaper down to avoid the cord; and every time we went to see the pediatrician, she came along and provided the doctor with updates. Whenever the baby cried hard and we had no idea what to do, she was like an anchor that gave us peace of mind.
Her care for me as a new mother was also meticulous and thoughtful. On the day she arrived, she began helping me with breast massage to clear blocked milk ducts. After they were cleared, I felt much more energized overall. My mother also said that my complexion looked much better. With my first child, because of improper diet and breast care, I had to keep going to a lactation consultant for blocked ducts.
She boiled mugwort water every night for me to soak my feet in, and later in my confinement period, she also helped wipe my body with mugwort water.
Every day, she also made different delicious meals for me. Thanks to her, our southern Chinese family got to eat freshly made dumplings and steamed buns.
The confinement period is the most vulnerable time in a woman’s life. I hope everyone will have the good fortune to meet a wonderful postpartum nanny like Auntie Chen.
