Auntie Wang has cared for both of our children. When I became pregnant with our younger child, I contacted her right away and booked her for six months starting from the baby’s birth. Now that the six months are almost over, our biggest regret is actually that we did not book her for a longer period from the beginning.
Auntie Wang has extensive experience, patience, and love when caring for young babies. Our younger child was premature and had a weak suck at birth, while my milk supply was initially low after my C-section. Auntie Wang patiently supplemented the baby with formula at every feeding. The baby’s birth weight had been in a very low percentile, but after one or two months, the checkup showed she had caught up to around the 50th percentile. Auntie Wang also helps develop the baby’s abilities and routine according to her age. She observes the baby and, when the baby is well fed, well rested, and in a good mood, lets her lie down, do tummy time, play, and explore on her own. For sleep, she gradually helped her establish a regular schedule, learn to resettle herself between sleep cycles, and gradually wean off night feeds. The baby sometimes had setbacks during this process—she might sleep very well one day but wake up and fuss at night the next—and Auntie Wang would patiently soothe her. She is also very experienced with baby exercises, tummy time, practicing rolling over, bathing, and caring for eczema.
Now, at six months old, our younger child can happily play independently for a while after she has eaten and slept enough. She falls asleep at around 9 p.m. every night, no longer needs night feeds, and recently has been able to sleep through until 6 or 7 in the morning. Even when she briefly wakes around 4 a.m., she can resettle without being picked up. Whether we let Auntie Wang take the baby out alone or both of us go to work and leave the baby completely in her care at home, we feel very reassured.
We are also very grateful that Auntie Wang has formed such a wonderful bond with our four-year-old and has helped care for her a great deal while looking after the baby. Our older child wakes up early in the morning, and Auntie Wang helps her develop independence, such as dressing herself, while preparing breakfast and keeping an eye on her. Auntie Wang is also especially good at doing all kinds of beautiful braids for her, which her teachers and classmates often compliment. If we are out of ingredients our older child likes to eat, Auntie Wang reminds me to buy them; if she notices our older child has not been eating well for several meals in a row, she makes dishes that she likes. Auntie Wang’s cooking also suits my taste very well—it is nutritionally balanced, and she can make all kinds of dishes. Our older child loves drawing, and when she draws our family, she often includes Auntie Wang. Recently, when she learned that Auntie Wang would be leaving our home in a week, she said, “Then I need to make the most of the time to play more with Auntie Wang.”
Auntie Wang takes great initiative and notices what needs to be done. When the baby reaches a new stage and needs a new bouncer, stroller, or other item, she finds it ahead of time and cleans it; when the baby’s supplies need replenishing, or there are changes in the baby’s recent schedule, she proactively communicates with us. She also often sees something that needs doing around the house and helps with it. For example, once our older child spilled an entire cup of milk, which soaked into the sofa. This was not part of her job, but she helped move the sofa, take apart and reassemble its components, and clean up the milk that had seeped inside. There have been many similar occasions.
Another thing we especially value about Auntie Wang is that communication with her is honest and smooth. She shares her experience and ideas with us, while also being willing to listen to and respect our opinions. Auntie Wang has also always taken very good care of me. During the first few months after my C-section, she gave me postpartum recovery massages at home. We often chatted during the massages, which was also wonderful companionship for me shortly after giving birth. In daily life, Auntie Wang also takes care of me and encourages me to rest more. Over these past six months, she has regularly made me restorative drinks using ingredients such as American ginseng, codonopsis root, and astragalus. Auntie Wang is also very experienced with increasing breast milk supply and preventing clogged milk ducts.
After spending time with her, we can see that Auntie Wang truly loves caring for children. She says she enjoys seeing babies change every day and gradually learn new things, and that it gives her a great sense of accomplishment. She also says that, as a maternity nanny or infant nanny, she believes she should adjust to the needs of different families. I think this kind of professional attitude is truly rare. If friends around me ask for recommendations for a maternity nanny or an infant nanny for a young baby, I would recommend Auntie Wang without hesitation.
The six months passed in a flash, and our whole family is truly reluctant to say goodbye to her. We are very grateful to Auntie Wang for accompanying our younger child from when she was such a tiny newborn to now, at six months old, and for caring for our older child, me, and our whole family over these six months. We feel so fortunate that both of our children were able to have such a reassuring and trustworthy auntie.
