I worked with Julie Kaufman for approximately 3 months with my third-child. Simply put, she is amazing!! She helped us immensely during this time, and supported me through this most recent journey. Julie has a very calm demeanor and is a natural with babies. She is incredibly loving and also has a wealth of knowledge given her experience with newborns and moms post partum. When Julie walked in the door each evening, my husband and I always were thrilled and felt a sense of relief! We new our baby girl was in the most capable hands. Julie helped us as our baby girl got older to develop a plan to help her start sleeping longer stretches, learn to soothe herself, and work towards the schedule we wanted. She was always open to discussing different approaches, and always listened. In addition, she was incredibly helpful during my healing process and with breastfeeding/pumping support. I had a number of issues with clogged ducts etc, and Julie always provided new ideas to help relieve the pain, and never put me as an afterthought. Our baby girl is now 3.5 months and is thriving. I attribute a lot of this to Julie! I would be happy to provide additional detail if helpful. All-in-all, Julie is a wonderful night doula, and i would work with her again!!

Julie took wonderful care of our family during our first few months. Covid safety concerns meant our family/friend support was minimal, so we ended up using her twice as much as expected. Worth every penny. Her guidance as we transitioned to parenthood was invaluable, and having an experienced set of eyes eased our minds during all the normal newborn worries. And the sleep!! Knowing our baby was cared for let us get enough sleep to feel more like humans and less like harried new parents.
Handing over your brand new baby to a stranger is terrifying, and Julie made it feel as comfortable as possible. We had two 45-minute phone calls and an in-person meeting before baby arrived, so she already felt familiar that first night. She worked only with us, as is her standard, which was great for covid/germ exposure and also gave us lots of scheduling flexibility. She is calm, confident, and adaptable, able to improvise and requiring no direction (added in things like baby laundry and dishes, which was an incredible bonus - there's nothing like the joy of coming downstairs after a solid block of sleep to find a clean kitchen). She had great advice (breastfeeding, reflux, getting longer sleep stretches, the list goes on!), and she also knew how to deliver it without overwhelming us, which helped us find our footing and develop our own parental intuitions.
And if you expect to keep her for 2.5 months and it actually extends to 4......well, she can gently sleep train your baby using whatever method you want and work herself out of a job. Highly highly highly recommend!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful and helpful Julie was. I hired Julie to be a night doula at the birth of my 2nd child, my son. Little did I know what a jewel I had stumbled upon! When I unexpectedly needed childcare, Julie was able to watch my daughter for 4 days at my house during the birth, "not a problem" were her words. After birth, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and needed immediate surgery. This meant I wouldn't be able to lift my 10lb son for 3 months. During my hospital stay for my surgery Julie ham and egged 12 hour shifts with another doula she helped me find. She ended up helping us for 8 months due to my recovery. Julie brought so much to the table. She calmed every fear and answered every question that came up with her large breadth of knowledge to which she is continually adding. She has so much experience that there was nothing that she hadn’t seen before. She is focused on both baby and mother. She wants mothers to be cared for just as much as the new baby. She is also very conscious of helping to make sure everything is handled the way the family would like. She can suggest ways of doing things if you ask but never forces an opinion or states something could only be handled one way. If there was ever a concern about baby she immediately brought it to my attention and offered next steps. She has a huge heart and a wonderful maternal countenance while feeling like one’s friend and cohort rather than one’s matron. She is a non-judgmental ear ready to listen, a sounding board to bounce ideas off of, and a shoulder to cry on ‘cause, ya know, hormones! One thing that was very important to me was that she knows how to keep boundaries. She was very reassuring to me that her job was to help baby be happy and loved but bonded to mom, not her. I would rehire Julie in a heartbeat. She went above and beyond for me and my entire family allowing us to get the rest we needed and fostering peace in our home and lives.
