Alyssa was our doula for the birth of our first child this past November. She is amazing. During the two pregnancy visits she went over all of the options for birth, helped us create a birth plan, and taught us methods for making labor more manageable at home (she has SO MANY different tools and strategies for this)! She also taught my husband how he could help during the early labor stages and that was invaluable. My contractions started around midnight and she texted with us throughout the night, answering our many questions and making sure I was doing ok. With her guidance and support, I was able to mostly labor at home and have the unmedicated birth I hoped for. She stayed with us for hours after the birth and helped us get settled into the postpartum room. She really made me feel safe throughout the entire pregnancy, labor/birth, and postpartum stages. I knew I could do it with her there and I will be forever grateful for her help and support.

Our experience with Alyssa was truly exceptional. From the start, drawing from her wealth of experience, she set realistic expectations about our hospital system in Boston. Her attentive communication was a constant source of comfort throughout our journey. Even when our birth plan took unexpected turns, Alyssa remained by our side, guiding us through each step with unwavering support. She had an incredible knack for explaining what was coming next and helping us make informed decisions during challenging moments. Her presence was reassuring, and her expertise invaluable. While the birth may not have gone exactly as we initially envisioned, having Alyssa with us made all the difference. We felt empowered, supported, and well-informed throughout the entire process, thanks to her dedication and compassionate care. Being empowered and informed kept all of us at ease and that to us was worth having Alyssa.

I can’t say enough good things about working with Alyssa. I met with five doulas, and Alyssa was the only one I felt an immediate connection with. She seemed invested in me and my pregnancy from the very beginning, which I greatly appreciated. While I didn’t get the full doula experience because I ended up having a planned c-section, Alyssa was with me every step of the way, answering my dozens of questions and making me feel heard and educated. Even my partner said that our meetings with Alyssa were incredibly helpful and made him feel more prepared for our birth journey. Please consider her for your doula needs!

I’d like to start by saying I am a nurse, and as a nurse sometimes knowing too much is a disadvantage. I knew that I needed someone competent, and medically knowledgeable to advocate for me in case I couldn’t. Alyssa was that, and more. She spoke up when I couldn’t because I was focused solely on evicting my child. She offered suggestions to help alleviate my pain and always asked before doing any maneuvers. She kept an eye on my husband for me (I was worried for his wellbeing having to watch me push out a watermelon :P ). I don't know that my birthing process would have gone as smoothly as it did without her. If I decide I want a second child, Alyssa will be right back in that delivery room with me.

I can’t begin to put into words how valuable it was to have Alyssa help bring my son into the world. She will forever be a part of our birth story and that is so special to us. Alyssa made us feel completely prepared with her birth education class. It was so reassuring to know all of the possible scenarios and have a plan in advance on what decisions we might make. Alyssa helped support me at home as my labor intensified quickly and then continued her support at the hospital through a 37 hour labor - she is super human! As most births are, my sons entrance into the world was not straight forward but what I will remember most is how supported and cared for we were. It was so helpful to talk about his birth with Alyssa after and be able to decompress with someone who was present. I cannot recommend Alyssa enough for support during any part of your pregnancy - she is truly a gift.

I can’t explain how unbelievably amazing it was having Alyssa as my doula for my second pregnancy. From the first time we spoke I felt so well listened to and you could tell how committed she was to my birth plan and preferences. Throughout my entire pregnancy she was there to support, offer advice, resources and so much more than I ever expected. She made me feel so confident going into my labor and birth and I felt so well prepared and supported. Having Alyssa at my birth made the entire experience absolutely amazing. The comfort, support and experience she provided to me as well as my husband was beyond anything I ever expected. It was the absolute best experience and I got the birth I wanted and couldn’t have done it without her by my side. If you are looking for a doula Alyssa is the absolute best and I highly recommend her services. I’ll definitely be looking forward to having her as our doula again for any future pregnancies/births.

I cannot recommend Alyssa enough! After a traumatic first birth without a doula, I knew I needed more support for delivering my second baby. Alyssa starting supporting me months before my delivery, providing advice for pregnancy, checking in on me routinely, and meeting with me and my partner to learn our preferences and needs for labor. I had a complicated medical history with a detailed birth plan and Alyssa was able to manage all of the moving parts so I had confidence my care would be appropriate at the hospital when I was too focused on contractions to effectively advocate for myself. Alyssa helped coach me through early labor at home, coordinated a plan for when to leave to the hospital, and calmed me down through painful contractions, IV line placement, and epidural administration. She helped my husband feel involved but also supported and kept me informed about the progress of my labor even after the epidural was placed. Her physical therapy background was incredibly helpful for massaging me during contractions and positioning me after the epidural to distribute the medicine and better guide baby down the birth canal. Alyssa stayed after the birth to assist with breastfeeding and has continued to follow up postpartum. I truly cannot imagine a better doula and am so grateful to have had a positive labor experience!

It is hard to put into words just how amazing it was to have Alyssa as our birth doula for the birth of my first child. Alyssa was incredibly supportive throughout my pregnancy and helped my husband and I to feel educated and prepared for delivery. Having Alyssa available throughout my long induction process and present during my challenging delivery helped bring a sense of calm to what could have been a stressful experience. She worked as a team with the nurses to provide our family with the best care and was able to support my husband and I in making challenging decisions as my labor progressed and became more complicated. Her training as a physical therapist was so helpful in explaining how to best prepare for birth and understanding how to help my body through the challenges of childbirth. I would recommend Alyssa as a support person to anyone and truly feel that she went above and beyond to give us the best care. She also supported me through the postpartum period and was extremely responsive with any questions and concerns that came about. Alyssa helped to create a positive experience in pregnancy, during birth, and postpartum. We are so thankful for her help in preparing us to begin our lives as parents with support and confidence.
