My husband and I had the pleasure of welcoming Melanie into our home to help us care for our newborn son. Melanie’s kind and calming presence helped us adjust to the newborn stage and allowed us to thoroughly enjoy getting to know our baby. We had total confidence in Melanie and look forward to inviting her back as we grow our family. Melanie is an expert in caring for babies and we learned a great deal from her. We felt comfortable with Melanie in our home and would highly recommend Melanie for night nurse and postpartum doula needs. She is truly one of a kind, trusting, and an absolute delight to be around.

It is my pleasure to submit a letter of recommendation on behalf of Melanie Costa for work as a postpartum doula. I have had the pleasure of knowing Melanie for 4 years and am very fortunate to have had her involved in the care of both of my children as newborns.
Melanie is a compassionate, empathetic, intelligent, and natural caregiver with an innate love for babies and children. She offered emotional, physical mental and practical support through conversation and nightly care and feedings, so that I was able to get some rest. She is very knowledgeable with all aspects of newborns from breastfeeding, soothing, swaddling, sleep and was able to help guide me when I was not sure how to handle different situations that arose.
Melanie has the ability to perceive needs of others and to fulfill them in a gentle, non-invasive way. At times she alleviate any worry, guilt, concern through her reassuring and calm nature. She advocates for both mother and child and truly encourages bonding and nurturing the mother/child relationship. She provided a sense of calm during a stressful time for my family.
Melanie is a great communicator and is will always ask if she isn’t clear on instructions, and acts promptly without guidance on what needs to be done. She is always on time and always shows up with a smile on her face and a positive attitude.
After several years of helping with my children, I can confidently say that anyone who has the privilege of working with Melanie will be lucky to have her.

I am writing to wholeheartedly recommend Melanie Costa as an exceptional night doula. We had the privilege of hiring Melanie to care for our newborn sons when they were just home from the NICU. We always felt we could rest easily knowing our babies were in wonderful hands. Melanie consistently impressed us with her dedication, expertise, and compassion. You can tell she is passionate about what she does and truly loves the babies that are in her care.

We had the pleasure of having Melanie care for our newborn daughter for her first 3 months, a few nights a week. As first-time parents, we were initially nervous about having someone else care for our daughter overnight. However, Melanie's demeanor and experience put us at ease the first night and we were able to get some much needed rest. Melanie was there the night we came home from the hospital with our baby. After having a challenging delivery and several days in the hospital, it was a relief to come home and have her there to help us through our first night home and allow us to get some rest. Melanie was consistently on time and checked in with us about how our baby did during the day. She asked for updates about any feeding or sleep changes and followed any new instructions we gave her. When I had a question or wanted to run something by her, Melanie offered support and sound advice. I could tell that my daughter received wonderful care from Melanie and even when she had a rough night's sleep, Melanie always spoke so highly of our daughter and how much she enjoys being around her. We enjoyed working with Melanie that we chose to extend her services for several more weeks past the initial end date. We would definitely use Melanie again if we have another child and have recommended to her our friends as well. We would highly recommend Melanie as a post-partum doula! I'm happy to be contacted if more details are needed.

Melanie was our weekend night doula for our baby, from when he was a newborn until he was 3 months old. She was absolutely wonderful. I’m an experienced mom and this was my third baby, so I wanted things done a certain way. Melanie handled all my requests with ease, and made sure to follow all my wishes. Seeing her taking care of my son made me feel totally comfortable and worry-free, knowing he was in such capable hands. She was naturally gentle and soothing with him, and knew all the best swaddling and burping techniques. I even learned a few things from her, so she’s really a pro. She always arrived on time, washed baby bottles before leaving, and was so reassuring as I shared my postpartum anxieties with her. I also loved being on the same page with her about being fragrance-free and natural minded about everything baby-related. Melanie made a difficult time much easier for us, and we are so grateful to her!

My name is Anita Misleh, and I'm writing this letter on behalf of Melanie. Melanie started taking care of my daughter Ivy when she was just 2 days old! The moment Melanie held her, I was confident that she would show her the love and patience that she needed. Melanie helped our family for a little over two months, but I wish I could have had her forever! My husband and I used to count the minutes until her arrival, because we knew that a smooth, peaceful night was just moments away!
I have two other young children, and having a night nurse was a complete game changer. I didn't suffer from extreme postpartum exhaustion, and I was able to function normally for the rest of my family.
Melanie is more than just a night nurse to me; she is a friend. I truly hope that whoever is reading this, has the chance to have the same experience.
